The first day back to work is always the hardest. Especially after taking a week off. It takes a couple of days to get back into the groove. It seems the longer we stay home, the harder it is to leave. But we know we have to get back to work.
When we are home, we are on the same schedule. In the truck, Howard usually drives during the day and I drive at night. It’s not a strict driving schedule. If one of us is feeling bad the other one takes over and drives first. We look out for each other like most couples do.
As you all know, we didn’t make it home for Christmas. But we did make it home Monday after we unloaded in South Carolina. I was so glad to be home to see my girls. Even though none of the gifts came in that I ordered for Christmas , it didn’t stop us from having a good time together. When my two daughters and I get together, we have the best time. It doesn’t matter if we go to a movie or stay home and play an adult card game we make the best of it. We played this card game where each player gets ten cards each. Someone reads the question and you answer the question or fill in the blank by choosing a card from the ten cards in your hand. It is hilarious and definitely not for children. We laughed so hard we could hardly breath.
After leaving my daughter’s house, I thought to myself, now this is what it’s all about. Laughter is truly good for the soul. We created another good memory to look back on.
My friend and I took my two granddaughters shopping. Spent the whole day with them. I paid to get their nails done. My friend paid to get the oldest granddaughter’s eyebrows waxed. We took them out for lunch and bought some things to bring in the New Year. We all had a great time.
Now my husband and I are on the road again. Driving through Alabama we see the USS battleship. It makes me think about what is going on in the world today. I feel proud to be an American. As we pass by I said a prayer for all the service men and women. I thanked God for our great country. Send us a message let us know how you spent your holidays. Are tell us what makes you proud to be an American.
